Sandy owns Explore and Learn and teaches the Pre-K classroom. She started working with children at twelve, babysitting neighbors and helping in Sunday School. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Bloomsburg University and taught for several years. She is raising three teenage boys with her husband.
Diane is the Director. She has 19 years' experience directing and managing early childhood programs. She graduated from Millersville University with a Bachelors in Elementary Education and a minor in Early Childhood. She has directed this site for twelve years. Her eight-year-old daughter attends the center's before and after care.
Ms. Casey has been with Explore and Learn since June 2021. She lives in Tylersport with her fiancé and their two boys. She is working toward her CDA in preschool. She enjoys personalizing her planner, cooking without a recipe, and reading. She looks forward to sharing her love of reading with the Pre-K class.
Ms. Torie worked in early childhood education for over seven years, starting as a teenager babysitting and later moving into daycare settings. She was in the young toddler classroom before maternity leave and now works in the infant room. She recently finished her CDA coursework and is working toward final certification.
Ms. Katie teaches the two-year-old class. She graduated from Lock Haven University in 2003 with a degree in Elementary Education and has almost 20 years of experience working with children. She has taught all ages and even served as a center director. She and her husband have two kids, Owen and Abby, who keep them busy. In her free time she crafts, shops at Target, and spends time with family.
Ms. Jennifer is the head teacher in the Preschool group. She has spent over 26 years in childcare and education, working with children of all ages. She is a mother of three. She earned her CDA credential and creates a nurturing, educational, fun environment. She enjoys reading, yoga, and walks in the park.
Teachers greet each child by name at the door, help them hang up a coat and find a cubby. Through the morning they sit on the floor with small groups, ask questions, and write down what children say. They carry the same routines from drop-off through lunch and rest. Parents can ask any teacher about their child's day, and the director is on site to answer questions about the program.
When a teacher knows your child well, small things get noticed. She sees that your toddler tried a new food or that your preschooler wrote the first letter of her name. Those notes come home or wait for you at pickup. Your child walks in knowing someone expects him. Over the year, that steadiness shows up at home in longer play and easier goodbyes.
